Club Profile

The picturesque Scarborough Tennis Club is located on the edge of Abbett Park in Scarborough. Since its opening in 1964 it has offered excellent tennis facilities, the opportunity to enjoy both social and pennant tennis, and a wonderful camaraderie for everyone who is part of the club. The social aspect of the club plays an important role in bringing the members together, allowing them to enjoy great tennis in a convivial atmosphere.

History of the Club

The seed was sown in 1961 when a group from Scarborough District Sportsmen’s Club put forward a proposal to the Shire Council to construct tennis courts and a pavilion at Abbett Park. The tennis courts were officially built and handed over to the club on the 5th of November 1963, and the courts were officially opened on the 1st of November 1964.

Nowadays the Club consists of 19 courts – 13 grass, 3 synthetic grass and 3 hard courts, a pro shop, bar and clubhouse, all nestled among striking palm trees that give the club the ambiance of a tropical resort!
