Scarborough Tennis Academy has a team of experienced, qualified tennis professionals who can guide every level of player.
Rick Willsmore; Director and Club Coach
Rick is the 2013 Tennis West Club Coach of the year. He has been coaching full time tennis for 13 years. As a player, he has played at a US college on a full scholarship and has played at state grade level in 3 different states. His coaching credentials include being a certified club professional, a Bolletieri level 1 coach and current coach to several juniors with rankings as high as 6 in Australia. Rick has created the courses held at Scarborough Tennis Academy and oversees everything involved in the business. He is always available to consult on which direction you should be taking your tennis and loves to see children and adults alike become passionate about the sport. Rick occasionally has vacant times open up for his private lessons but divides his time between working with his students and overseeing the Academy’s operations.
Andrea Cooper; Senior Coach and Academy Manager
Andrea has been with Scarborough Tennis Academy for 5 years and brings with her a wealth of playing and coaching experience. Andrea is a former top 10 British junior and also a division 1 scholarship holder in the United States college system. Andrea was runner up in the WA state grade player of the year in 07/08 and is also a Lawn Tennis Association development coach and a TA Club Professional coach. Andrea is available for private lessons and is also an integral part of our courses for both children and adults. Andrea is exceptionally enthusiastic and can offer a lifetime of tennis expertise to the budding tennis player. Andrea is also the main line of contact for everything that happens on the court. This includes hotshots, privates, tournaments, camps, squads and junior pennants along with keeping everyone upto date through club newsletters.
Stephanie White; Coach and Development Officer
Stephanie is an advanced player and qualified tennis coach and exercise physiologist. Steph teaches our Hot Shots program along with utilising her exercise physiology degree by helping our squad players build their physical training program. Steph is experienced with adult lessons both for beginners and intermediate players. Steph is available for private lessons and offers a highly qualified, professional and enjoyable lesson for all levels. Steph also helps develop Scarborough Tennis through relationships and workshops with local schools, businesses and retailers along with being a member of the Scarborough Tennis Club committee.
Melvyn Scholtz; Senior Coach
Melvyn has been a qualified tennis coach for over 15 years and provides passionate and caring coaching lessons. He is the chief of many of our Hot Shots lessons along with Beginner Adults. Melvyn has an ability to make children as young as 3 overcome their nerves and can also bring that comfortable environment to the beginner adult. Melvyn has a fantastic reputation and is well regarded as a top quality Tennis Australia Development Coach.
Victor Pereira; Coach
Victor has enjoyed a lifetime of tennis where he has been a professional tennis player, representing Singapore at the Davis Cup level on two occasions. Victor has also stayed heavily involved as a private coach to several promising juniors along with training pennant teams and other group training. He has completed his Advanced Coaching Course and is a qualified coach, player and mentor to other players at the club and academy. Victor teaches tennis part time doing a handful of private lessons and also working with our performance 14 and under squad.
Nathalie Sputore; Coach
Nathalie is a qualified junior development coach and has been coaching on a part time basis for 6 years. Nathalie has the ability to successfully coach kid’s classes, adult classes and cardio sessions. Nat has recently graduated as a physiotherapist and will continue to balance a part time tennis coaching role with a full time physiotherapy position. Nat is available for private lessons for kids or adults.
